Abram Ojure, Licensed Acupuncturist, Founder

Abram Ojure, Licensed AcupuncturistAbram is the founder of NEIH. What started as a small private practice is now a thriving group practice including three acupuncturists. He started his training at Five Branches University in California and later received his Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture, the oldest college of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in the United States. 

 During his time at New England School of Acupuncture he studied with several renowned acupuncturists, including Ted Kaptchuck, author of the classic text The Web that Has No Weaver: Understanding Chinese Medicine. Originally from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where he grew up in an intentional community, Abram completed his undergraduate studies at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. While at Guilford, Abram studied abroad in Beijing and encountered Traditional Chinese Medicine. He later returned to Beijing after school and continued to his studies of Chinese language and culture. 

 He completed advanced training in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine at Zhejiang University of TCM in Hangzhou, China. His training focused on neuromuscular diseases and women's health. 

Abram is an acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Herbalist, and uses both needling and chinese herbal medicine to treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Pain & Fatigue, including migraines, low back pain, neck pain/mobility, and chronic fatigue
  • Women's Health, including menopause, PMS, and infertility
  • Mental/Emotional Challenges, including anxiety and depression
  • Digestive disorders, including IBS
  • Hypertension

Abram also has experience working with children using Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (using GMP compliant and/or organic sources when possible ) to treat asthma, common cold, ADD/ADHD, digestive disorders and pain.

Allison colwell, licensed acupuncturist

Allison Colwell, Licensed AcupuncturistAllison is a Licensed and Nationally Board Certified Acupuncturist with a Master’s degree in Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture in Newton, MA. She received extensive clinical training in a variety of teaching clinics throughout Massachusetts. Her diverse clinical experience includes: New England School of Acupuncture Teaching Clinic; Boston Medical Center; Greater Lynn Senior Services; Cambridge Health Alliance. Prior to pursuing her education in Traditional Chinese Medicine, she received a Bachelor's of Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Community Health and Healing and Kinesiology.

Allison practices both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Japanese style acupuncture. While the techniques and needles used with each acupuncture style may vary, both modalities are equally as effective and beneficial for all types of patients.

In addition to acupuncture, she received her Health Coaching certification through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, and is well versed in comprehensive curriculum which covers over 100 dietary theories, including nutrition, physical activity, relationships and other elements of life that can impact health. Incorporating nutritional knowledge into treatment strategies enables Allison to treat each patient as a whole.

Darquin Chiu, RPh, Licensed acupuncturist

Darquin is a licensed Acupuncturist with a Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from MCPHS University (formerly New England School of Acupuncture). He originally began his career with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, practicing for three years in the retail sector.  After witnessing a myriad of side effects from common medications, he had a rediscovered interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which often has minimal side effects and has been known to cure certain ailments that western medicine has historically struggled to treat. 

Darquin utilizes his extensive knowledge of both styles of medicine to synergistically enhance treatment efficacy. With the pharmacy degree, he can identify and help manage adverse drug reactions that may contribute to the patient’s condition. Darquin's background can also help him to identify key areas of focus as well as prescribing of custom formulas that do not interact with current medications.

Darquin is an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, and can treat a variety of conditions including:

  • Pain – headache, sport injury, low back pain, neck pain, nerve pain, plantar fasciitis
  • Gastrointestinal disorders – GERD, Ulcerative colitis, chronic diarrhea/constipation
  • Women’s Health – infertility, menstrual pain
  • Mental Health
  • Sleep disorders

Janette is a Licensed and Nationally Board Certified Acupuncturist in Massachusetts. She also works at Massachusetts General Hospital, Martinos Center for Bioimaging in acupuncture research.  Previously she worked in private practice and at Neurosurgical Consultants, Inc., a spine clinic founded by Marc H. Friedberg, M.D.,Ph.D and Michael Gieger, M.D., ABNS in Norwood, MA. 

Janette received her master’s degree from the New England School of Acupuncture in Newton, MA.  During school, she assisted master acupuncturist Kiiko Matsumoto in her clinic and since graduation, she has regularly attended Kiiko’s advanced teaching seminars. 

Janette founded Boston Acupuncture Trauma Relief in response to the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.  Boston Acupuncture Trauma Relief was a pop-up clinic supported by a network of volunteer acupuncturists committed to providing free-care for any individual affected by the events surrounding the bombing.

Janette earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Studies from Vermont College in Montpelier, VT.  During her undergraduate studies she lived in India for a year to study yoga, meditation, ayurvedic medicine and volunteer at the Shakyamuni Buddhist Hospital run by the Root Institute for Wisdom Culture in Bodhgaya, India.  Alongside allopathic physicians, naturopaths, and biologists, she worked in the physiotherapy unit with children suffering from extrapulmonary tuberculosis, polio, and cerebral palsy. 

Janette is also a certified massage therapist.  She received her education from The Mountain Heart School of Bodywork in Crested Butte, CO. She specialized in Therapeutic Neuromuscular Technique and Somatic Mind-body Release in 2001.

Janette completed a 200 hour YogaWorks teacher training in 2012.  She is currently pursuing a certification to be a Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction instructor.

Am holds a Masters Degree in both Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and holds an active license in Massachusetts. She earned her Bachelors in Exercise Physiology with a minor in Nutrition from UMASS Lowell. At the New England School of Acupuncture, Am pursued a dual track in Chinese Herbal Medicine and Orthopedic Acupuncture.

Am’s focus has been in orthopedic, acute pain management, chronic illnesses, women’s health, and mental-emotional issues (i.e. insomnia, depression, anxiety, etc.). She believes a natural approach can reach root causes resulting in harmonious health and wellness.

Am's orthopedic approach includes local trigger point needling, electro-stimulation, adjunctive therapies like gua sha, cupping and tui nah. Each technique is used based on the unique presentation of the individual. 

She lives the vegan lifestyle with the belief that we should contribute to the least amount of suffering as guests on this planet.

Danielle Pastuszak, PT, DPT, Physical Therapist

Danielle is a licensed Physical Therapist with a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from MGH Institute of Health Professions in Charlestown, MA. Danielle holds her Bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College in Mathematics and Dance. After college, Danielle pursued a career as a professional dancer with Mystic Ballet in Connecticut before joining Urbanity Dance, where she is currently entering her 10th season. Recently, Danielle had the pleasure of being cast as a principal dancer in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women.

Danielle recently completed a comprehensive Pilates rehabilitation program through Polestar Pilates and incorporates the use of Pilates as a rehabilitation tool. With a strong movement background, Danielle prioritizes optimizing motor patterns in her practice. Her clinical interests include sport medicine and orthopedics, injury prevention, performing arts and dance medicine, runners, biomechanics of the ankle-foot and knee, and back pain.
