Biogen Wellness
Acupuncture is based on thousands of years of ancient Chinese medicine - today western medical science has demonstrated that acupuncture stimulates a variety of biological systems in the muscular, immune, nervous and endocrine systems, and causes the release of the body’s own pain-killing endorphins that block pain receptors in the brain. It releases anti-inflammatory chemicals, relaxes tight and injured myofibrils (muscle cells), and improves blood circulation to promote faster healing of injured tissue.
Acupuncture has benefits for wellness in many areas - treating acute injuries, ongoing chronic pain, improving sleep and digestion, and mental focus and calm.
Both Initial and Followup appointments last 60 minutes, and are located on the 6th floor (by the North American Medical and HR Neighborhoods), in Building 1 of the Binney Street office. Please meet for appointments outside Room 1642, the Reflection Room.
Acupuncturists currently onsite Wednesdays 8:30am - 4:30pm, and Thursdays 9am-5pm.
COVERAGE
Biogen insurance plans cover acupuncture, with unlimited visits per calendar year.
**Please note that Biogen insurance plans vary - your specific policy determines your acupuncture coverage and copay. For example, some Biogen plans include a deductible, which has to be met before insurance shares costs with the patient, and some do not. HSA and HRA funds can be a great solution for helping cover acupuncture costs. **
